This performance is designed to offer local residents diverse cultural and artistic experiences and allow them to feel the profound value of traditional arts more intimately.
Notably, this event is a key component of the '2026 Hwacheon County Visiting Cultural Activities Support Project,' sponsored by the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province and Hwacheon County. The program is specifically tailored for seniors to enjoy easily and comfortably, emphasizing the goal of ensuring all residents, regardless of their location, have access to cultural enjoyment.
A Feast of Traditional Performing Arts: Pungmul, Beona-nori, and Julloreum
'Julp an, Noripan!', a representative work by Percussion Group Unlock, is a traditional performance that harmoniously blends pungmul (traditional Korean folk music and dance), Namsadang beona-nori (traditional plate spinning performance), and the thrilling julloreum (tightrope walking) performed on a rope. The lively pungmul rhythms, the witty entertainment of beona-nori, and the high-level acrobatics showcased on the tightrope are expected to offer audiences a rich array of sights and deep emotional resonance.
Renowned tightrope walker Ryu Seong-hwan from the Julloreum Preservation Society will feature in this performance, demonstrating the essence of traditional julloreum. Ryu Seong-hwan will not only display dynamic acrobatics on a single rope but also engage with the audience through humorous banter, vividly conveying the vibrancy and immediacy inherent in traditional performing arts. Director Jeong Jae-won and Music Director Kim Gyeong-bin collaborated to enhance the quality of the performance.
